2020 Special Ceremonies and Honor Stone Changes

The Highground has the most appreciated gift for your special loved one, friend, or organization. There are a couple of special ceremonies and a few scheduling changes for you to note on your calendar for this year. The public is invited to attend these stone ceremonies which are set to begin starting on May 30 at 10am and 1pm. There is also a need for volunteers. If you are available to help at any of the ceremonies, please call Kay at 715-743-4224.

  • June 5 will be the first evening stone ceremony held at The Highground. This evening will honor the Veterans’ Organizations that have purchased a stone for the special area around the Wisconsin Map (United-in-Service).
  • The stone ceremony for the Military Working Dog Tribute has been rescheduled from June 6 to July 18 at 10am in conjunction with the stone ceremony for the Persian Gulf Tribute.
  • A Veterans’ Organization Open House as well as a Meet and Greet with Chris Pettis, the new Executive Director, is scheduled from 9am-noon on June 6. Everyone is also invited to an afternoon Legacy Stone Ceremony beginning at 1pm.

The Highground is hopeful there will be no other changes after the Wisconsin “Safer at Home” mandate expires, and that visitors and supporters will be healthy and able to attend. If you have a stone scheduled and need to change the date, please call Kay at 715-743-4224 or send an email to donations@thehighground.us. Note, stone ceremonies will not be cancelled or postponed because of weather (unless conditions affect the safety of participants, e.g., a tornado or lightning). You are encouraged to plan accordingly and dress for the weather—rain, shine or snow.

Other stone ceremonies include:

Legacy Honor Stones: July 18 at 1pm; August 1 at 11am and 2pm; September 19 at 1pm; and October 3rd at 10am and 1pm.

Korean Honor Stones: September 19 at 10am

Note: Stones are ordered six weeks prior to the date of your choice, so be sure to schedule it early enough to ensure your stone arrives in time for your ceremony.

Remember—If you’re looking for that unique gift, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are just around the corner; or for an anniversary, birthday, or “just proud of you” gift. Wedding gifts, memorial gifts, and all other types of gifts have been given at The Highground. The staff would be honored to help you make this a surprise or help you prepare for a wonderful way to honor your loved one.

Don’t wait too long to get the date you want. Call Kay today at 715-743-4224, send an email to donations@thehighground.us, or Visit the Honor Stone page for information and applications. Everyone at The Highground looks forward to making your day special for you and your family.
