The Highground Education Days 2025

Attention School Teachers and Homeschooled Families!

The Highground will hold its Annual Education Days September 30 and October 1 for fifth grade – middle school (including a half-day guided tour of The Highground) and October 2 and 3 for high schools and adults (featuring a full day of unique 30-minute presentations on military history, the countries and people affected by war, and displays of cultural importance).

September 30 and October 1 will be The Highground’s traditional Fifth Grade Days.
Students will receive a guided tour of The Highground with added presentations on different cultures, important moments in history and a Flag Retirement Ceremony conducted by the Daughters of the American Revolution – Ah Da Wah Gam Chapter. This 5th Grade event will be a half day presentation. Schools will need to pick the day and either the AM (9:30am-12:15pm) or PM (11:30am-2:15pm) session. Note: A lunch break is not scheduled within the sessions. We have picnic tables on site, however, so students are welcome to bring a sack lunch to eat before or after their session. Students are invited to bring a Ziploc bag of soil from their home, school or other special place to place on the Dove Mound.

October 2 and 3 will be geared towards a high school/adult level of understanding and maturity.
These days will feature programs that offer in-depth insight into the U.S. military experience in WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror with accompanying presentations on the other nations cultures involved in these wars. This program will not include a tour of The Highground, and it will not be a repeat of what these students may have received if they attended a previous Education Days event. Schools will need to pick which day to attend. Both days will run a full day from 9:30am-2:00pm. A lunch break is included from 11:30am-noon. Note: The Highground will work with schools that need to arrive later or leave before scheduled times.

Teachers are welcome to contact Theresa with questions if they want to coordinate a lesson plan with the presentations that will be offered.

Education Days is generously sponsored by John & Donna Koutre.

To book a session for your students, please email Theresa at museum@thehighground.org or call 715-743-4224. A donation of $3.00 per person is appreciated but not required.

Note: The public is invited to attend the presentations and tours; however, we kindly ask that you contact Theresa for information and to RSVP (see contact details above).
