History of the 32nd Infantry Division – The Red Arrow

On July 16, The Highground will host an exciting presentation and book signing on the history of the 32nd Infantry Division – The Red Arrow. The 32nd Inf Div not only has a highly significant and storied past, it is also near and dear to our hearts as generations of local troops have served in the Red Arrow. 

Mark D. Van Ells, the author of Red Arrow across the Pacific: The Thirty-Second Infantry Division during World War II (Finalist – Foreword Indies Book of the Year Award – War & Military Category, 2024) will present a talk about the Red Arrow’s history at 6pm at The Highground Welcome Center.  The presentation will be followed by a Q & A session and book signing. 

Mark is Professor of History at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York. He received his Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999 and is a native of the Badger State. Prior to his current position, he taught for Mount Senario College and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Dr. Van Ells also served as Archivist/Historian at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison from 1994 to 1998. His research focuses on the social and cultural history of the US military, with an emphasis on World War II.
