The Home Front & Holidays
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
The “Home Front & Holidays” exhibit will be at The Highground Museum through February 1, 2021.
This exhibit shows how the U.S. civilians supported the troops from the beginning days of our country to present day and how troops “celebrated” holidays while serving through our U.S. history.
Visitors will learn how the home front support changed throughout the decades, the realities of at-home hardships and how the recognition of holidays changed to support wartime morale. The exhibit also includes other interesting chapters in our nation’s history and features several local stories. In addition, the Museum will offer visitors an interactive experience to create Civil War era Christmas ornaments and an invitation to write letters to our soldiers who are currently serving.
Other community programs that are currently going on at the Museum include The Highground Homeless Veteran Clothing & Non-perishable Drive and The Highground Military Care Package Collection Drive.
