Military Care Package Program

The Highground’s Military Care Package Program goal is to ship out care packages several times throughout the year. If you have a loved one currently deployed, we will get them a package! Call 715-743-4224 or send their APO/FPO mailing address to museum@thehighground.us.

UPDATE: We are building care packages now through December 1, 2020! Packages will be mailed AS SOON AS items are donated to fill the boxes!

The following items are accepted for these care packages as well as funds to cover shipping costs: 

—Factory-packaged handy food such as: Breakfast bars, Clif bars, protein bars, (no chocolate in the bars), beef jerky, Slim Jims, non-refrigerated summer sausage (meat should be labelled USDA Beef), Ramen noodle packages, mac-n-cheese cups, cup o’ soup “just add water”

—Nuts, salsa and chips, cookies (not chocolate; iced oatmeal is good), pretzels
—Snack crackers (not saltines; harder ones that won’t crumble like Triscuit, Wheat Thins, Chick’N in a Bisket, Ritz)
—Cold cereal (small boxes–the ones that come in 6 or 8 packs)
—Good quality tins of sardines, smoked oysters, baby clams, tuna
—Water flavoring powder packets, packages of Carnation Instant Breakfast
—Small cans of bean or cheese dip, taco seasoning packets, hot sauce (packets are a good idea)
—Non-melting candy (no chocolate; licorice is good; fruit leather; peppermints and other hard candy
—High quality toilet paper; foot powder; lip balm
—Crossword books; current magazines (nothing with bikinis; no Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editions)
A personal letter or card from you (not in an envelope)
—High quality socks; tooth flossing picks; small packets of kleenex tissues
—Puzzles; baseballs, baseball mitts; board bames (must fit into a 12” x 11” x 5” box)
—Beanie babies to hand out to children
—Batteries, AA and AAA
—Donate Ziploc/plastic bags to use while putting Care packages together

NOT ACCEPTED: Anything remotely indecent or offensive (e.g., no Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions); no bulk items that are religious in nature (religious items for individuals are OK as long as they are not anti-Arab or anti-Muslim); no pork products, no aerosols, no airbags for packing; no cigarettes; no CBD (cannabis oil) products; no nail polish; no perfume; nothing political; no chocolate or gummies (they melt into a mess), no hand sanitizer

We are also accepting monetary donations to cover the cost of shipping the care packages. Each box will cost between $15–$20. Checks can be written out tto “The Highground” with “Military Care Package” in the memo area and mailed to: The Highground, PO Box 457, Neillsville WI 54456.  Credit /Debit card donations can be made over the phone to The Highground 715-743-4224.
