Sarah Blum Presentation

The Highground will host a special presentation by Vietnam Veteran nurse, therapist and author, Sarah Blum, on Thursday, Sept 8 at 5:30pm. This presentation is open to the general public with RSVPs appreciated. The evening presentation will focus on the experiences of nurses, medics, corpsman during the Vietnam War. Veterans and those who have served in the military or civilian life in a medical capacity are encouraged to attend.

Sarah Blum, ARNP is a decorated nurse Vietnam veteran who earned the Army Commendation Medal serving as an operating room nurse in the Vietnam War. Sarah will share her experience in Vietnam, her path to healing post-traumatic stress, and her decades of experience healing others.

Sarah served in the Army Nurse Corps for almost five years with one full tour as an operating room nurse at the 12th Evacuation Hospital in Cu Chi, Vietnam. Sarah describes, “The hospital was located on the edge of the iron triangle by the Hobo Woods where all the fighting was in 1967, the year I was there. Our hospital was the largest user of fresh blood in all of Vietnam that year. I saw the worst of what war does to our young men and I felt the impact of the war on me emotionally for years. I call it the gift that goes on giving because at my current age, I can still go back there and feel the depth of feelings.”

RSVP’s are appreciated and can be sent via email to Theresa at museum@thehighground.us or by calling 715-743-4224. There will be light refreshments served during the presentation which will be held outside, under a tent, to enjoy the beauty of The Highground in the late afternoon.
