Veteran & Family PTS Peer Support Group August 2022
The Highground will host the next Veteran & Family PTS Peer Support Group on Sunday, August 21 at 2pm. This gathering will focus on how to begin conversations between the Veteran and their family and friends on PTS management and how to open the door to sharing military service experiences. The hope is that these discussions will help build better, trusting relationships between these loved ones. Veterans, families and the public are invited to attend the casual gathering to obtain resources and more information on post-traumatic stress (PTS).
The speakers for this event will be Scott Schultz of the Heartbeat Center for Writing, Literacy and the Arts and Chris Pettis, Executive Director of The Highground.
This is not a professional counseling event. It is a gathering for those who are interested in learning more about PTS resources that are available for families. It presents an opportunity for attendees to make connections with others who are or have been, “in their shoes”; and it is a place to connect with a peer-support system that can help during times when a person may feel alone in their loved one’s struggle with PTS. This family support group will bring a community together around those who are struggling.
RSVP’s are appreciated (to ensure we have sufficient resource materials and food) but not mandatory. To learn more or RSVP, send an email to Theresa at museum@thehighground.us or call 715-743-4224.
The Highground is located at W7031 Ridge Rd, Neillsville WI 54456.
