Korean 2nd Reunion/ Education Night

Korean Reunion/ Education Night:

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the “end” of the Korean War

Our 2nd annual Korean Reunion/Education Night fell on the 60th Anniversary of the “end” of the Korean War. Although never officially declared over, the fighting of the Korean War ceased on July 27, 1953. Eight Korean Veterans along with family and friends gathered at The Highground’s Learning Center to commemorate this day and to help the forgotten war be remembered.

The veterans shared stories, photos and memorabilia of their service, met up with old friends and met new ones. Some have shared their experiences several times while others have just started being able to talk about theirs. Giving our veterans an opportunity and a safe place to interact with other veterans is a vital step in the road to healing. As many of them stated “It is never too late to start the journey of healing, understanding and acceptance”.

Veterans in attendance were: Cecil Berlin of Eau Claire, WI; Tony Ellis of Marshfield, WI; Ed Anibas of Osseo, WI; Rae Kohn of Medford, WI; Keith Briggs of Onalaska, WI; Tom Werthman of Marshfield, WI; George Michel of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Elmer Seehafer of Marshfield, WI.
We hope to see even more of you at next year’s gathering slated for July 26, 2014 @ 2:00pm
