The Highground Veterans Memorial Park announces a

$1500 scholarship opportunity for students in the UW and WTCS system

of Graphic Design and Marketing

The Highground is a 155-acre premier manned veterans memorial park pays tribute to veterans of the past, present and future by honoring their commitment, sacrifice and service.  The Highground fulfills its mission of honoring, educating and healing by bringing past lessons into our hopes for the future.

The Park was founded by a committee of Vietnam Veterans, who decided to place the park in Neillsville, WI, to be centrally located in the state of Wisconsin.  The committee worked over the next four years to place the first Tribute, the Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Tribute, “Fragments”.  The Park has grown considerably since the initial ceremony in 1988, adding tributes such as the National Native American Vietnam Veterans Tribute, plus Tributes honoring those from WWI to the Present.  The grounds enable visitors a place to reflect at the tributes or at the Effigy Dove Mound, the Gold Star, or in the Meditation Garden, the Museum or the Learning Center. The Highground receives over 250,000 visitors each year from around the world.

Since 1984 The Highground has maintained the same brand, however with the growth of the organization, and a growth to its mission and platforms, we are looking to implement a new modern design that fully encompasses our values and expanded mission.   We will open up submissions as of March 22nd, 2019 and will accept designs until April 30th , 2019.  Submissions will be narrowed down by staff and community members for final selection by the Board of Directors May 4th, 2019.   The student submission that is selected will receive a $1500 scholarship.  Submissions or questions should be directed to Program Development Coordinator Ike Rebout at programdevelopment@thehighground.us

The Design should be unique in nature and should follow basic branding guidelines and formatted in vector format.   Designs should include a seal, and designs for official documents for business purposes.  The Artist of the selected Design will need to give full copyright release upon selection and will receive a $1500 scholarship. The Scholarship is open to all WTCS and UW currently enrolled students in either a program affiliated with marketing, graphic design, or business.
