“Forgotten War” Remembered at Opening Reception :

The Highground hosted an invite only, opening reception to introduce their new exhibit paying tribute to Korean War Veterans. 35 people from all over WI attended the reception were they viewed two portrait collections on loan to us from the Korea Society in NY. One collection is black and white photos taken by various service members while fighting in this unforgiving terrain. The other is one of the ONLY colored photo collections of the Korean War. John Roth was one of the very few photographers that had access to colored film, so his collection is very rare and special. Guests also viewed other memorabilia and photos on loan from area Korean Veterans. A tasty array of hors d’oeuvres was enjoyed along with great conversation and reminiscing. Six portraits were set aside and saved for an exclusive un-veiling. We wanted this group of veterans, exhibit sponsors and community members to be the first to view these six special portraits. After the un-veiling, all veterans in attendance we recognized and presented with a “Korean War Veteran” pin.
