The Spring “Vets & Guitars” 10-week session begins Thursday, March 13 at The Highground Welcome Center. This program is offered to military veterans and is free of charge. Art and music have been found to help many veterans managing PTSD reduce anxiety and stress while providing a positive outlet to express their emotions. The Highground’s “Vets & Guitars” classes are a great way for veterans to learn a musical skill and to share the experience with other veterans.

Beginning Acoustic Guitar class will be held from 4:30-5:30pm. Continuing Guitar, for veterans who have completed the beginning guitar course, will be held from 6-7pm. Those who have experience playing guitar but have not taken the beginner course can contact Theresa to see which course would suit them best.

All courses are instructed by musician and instructor Victoria Shoemaker. More information about Victoria and the band she performs with, “Virginia Steel”, can be found at virginiasteelmusic.com

Sponsors who have made this program possible are the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), Gary Weirauch and Judith Zettler.

To register for a class and for more information, veterans are invited to email Theresa at museum@thehighground.org or call us at 715-743-4224.
