The Highground Memorial Day Honor Ride Heads Into Its 13th Year

The Highground will host its 13th Annual Honor Ride motorcycle ride and Memorial Day Ceremony on May 29. In observance of Memorial Day, The Highground recording of over 2,000 Wisconsin men and women who gave their lives in service to our country will be heard throughout the park beginning at 10am.

The Honor Ride is set to begin at eight different locations as early as 6:30am. Motorcyclists consisting of Veterans and supporters will begin their journey of remembrance in Eau Claire, Neillsville, Appleton, Reedsburg, Richland Center, Minocqua, Wausau and Onalaska. Each route will be led by experienced ride leaders and will follow scenic roads to the Neillsville American Legion Post #73. Riders are welcome to join any route at one of the scheduled stops featured on the Honor Ride website at thehighgroundhonorride.com.

As a part of this fundraising event, there will be a basket raffle with opportunities for supporters to participate in at the American Legion and The Highground until the drawing at 2:30pm. The American Legion Post #73 will have their Veterans brat/burger cookout throughout the day and is free to Veterans.

After arriving at the American Legion, all the riders will leave together at 1:45pm to ride through Neillsville in commemoration of Memorial Day before heading out to The Highground.

As the riders begin to arrive at The Highground, guests and supporters will welcome them along the flag-lined road simultaneously with the ringing of the Liberty Bell. At 3pm, the Liberty Bell will ring once more for the National Moment of Remembrance to mark the beginning of the Memorial Day Ceremony.

All funds raised by the Honor Ride will help The Highground continue its unwavering service to U.S. military Veterans and their families by offering a place of solace, reflection and hope where they can build bonds with others who have the same struggles, provide each other with a strong support system and start their post-traumatic growth journey.
