Eric A Palmisano

Marine Lance Cpl. Eric A. Palmisano, 27, of Florence, Wis.; assigned to 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died April 2 after the truck he was riding in rolled over in a flash flood near Asad, Iraq. The incident also resulted in the death of six other Marines and a Navy petty officer. Palmisano was listed as Duty Status – Whereabouts Unknown until his body was recovered April 11. Beloved son of Roberta ”Bobbie” and Herb Samme and the late Salvatore L. Palmisano II; loving brother of Salvatore (Darlene); dearest grandson of Sam and Marie Palmisano and Bob and Gloria McCauslin; also survived by his devoted fiancee, Claire Kohake; and his faithful canine companion, Hannah; fond uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. Eric will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Ooh Rah and Semper Fi.

Six other Marines and a Navy petty officer also died. Palmisano had been listed as “duty status whereabouts unknown” until his body was recovered Tuesday. He was assigned to the 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.
