Robert J Cook

Spc. Robert J. Cook of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin was born to Sandra L. Selheim and Douglas Cook and was kind, tough as nails, a leader, and a hero to the service of this country. He leaves behind his mother, Sandra L. Selheim; step-father, Robert M. Selheim; a sister, Jennifer R. Cook; grandmother, Wanda Barden Williams; grandfather, James Williams; step-grandmother, Chris Barden; aunts and uncles, Judith Judd, Joan Prinzing, Richard Barden and David Barden; cousins, Michelle, Greg, Eric and Ellen Judd, Wanda, Becky and Tonya Prinzing and Tony, Elizabeth, James, Adam, Eileen and Nicky Barden; and two half-brothers, Tristan and Kyle Cook. He was 24.

“Even though he’ll be gone for 10 years this coming January, it’s still hard to go to his grave site,” said Sandra Selheim of Sun Prairie, whose son, Army Spc. Robert Cook, was the first Wisconsin soldier to lose his life in Afghanistan. Cook was 24 when he was killed on Jan. 29, 2004.
