Volunteers help make the mission possible
The key to our success rests in people like you, who embody the spirit of greatness by saying, “Yes I can, and you can too!”

As volunteers at The Highground, you will be part of a remarkable group of people. You will get the chance to participate in fundraising events, greet visitors, help maintain the gardens and more. Becoming a volunteer has many benefits that include giving back to the community, making new friends and learning new things. Volunteers bring energy, enthusiasm and new ideas. The important thing is that we are serving our Veterans, those who served us. And, there are plenty of opportunities. All volunteer gifts and talents are needed and appreciated!
Highly Needed Volunteers
Become a Tour Guide: Take visitors on a guided tour of the tributes and share the history of The Highground. We are looking for individuals who would be able to provide approximately two-hour tours. Learn the ropes by participating in training with our seasoned guides. Is mobility an issue? No worries, we have golf carts and powered scooters available.
Help The Highground Bloom: Ditch those winter blues. From about mid-April through the fall, help keep the flowers and new plantings nourished once or twice a week for a few hours a day. For ease, we have a golf cart set up with an attached water tank trailer. As a family or group activity, share the benefits of volunteering and watch the Park flourish.
Support Our Events: We are always in need of car parkers, traffic controllers and food servers as well as people to help with raffle ticket sales and set-up and break-down before and after events. Visit our Calendar of Events page to learn more about our upcoming events.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Help Keep Our Nature Trails Pristine – This might not be the most glamorous activity, but it’s a wonderful way to get in some steps and help your community. Take a stroll around our trails and provide some much-needed support by picking up trash, trimming small overhanging shrubs or letting us know where the trails may be needing some TLC. These trails are so important to our natural footprint, and the serenity of this volunteer experience is one that everyone can enjoy on their own time.
Assist with Museum Projects – Lend a hand to our museum coordinator by helping support the curation of our many exhibits. We are continually updating our displays, adding new items we receive and working on new projects. If you are a history buff with an eye for detail and appreciation for the work involved in caring for our donors’ memorabilia, this is a unique opportunity to get involved.
Is there something we missed? A wonderful thing about The Highground is the possibilities, and our volunteers are at the heart of what drives the next steps in our ongoing progress. If you think of something else that would be beneficial to our mission, and you would like to volunteer to support that effort, please give us a call.
