Volunteers help make the mission possible

Volunteers help make the mission possible

The key to our success rests in people like you, who embody the spirit of greatness by saying, “Yes I can, and you can too!”

As volunteers at The Highground, you will be part of a remarkable group of people. You will get the chance to participate in fundraising events, greet visitors, help maintain the gardens and more. Becoming a volunteer has many benefits that include giving back to the community, making new friends and learning new things. Volunteers bring energy, enthusiasm and new ideas. The important thing is that we are serving our Veterans, those who served us. And, there are plenty of opportunities. All volunteer gifts and talents are needed and appreciated!

Urgent Critical Needed Volunteer Positions

Become a Tour Guide: Take visitors on a guided tour of the tributes and share the history of The Highground. We are looking for individuals who would be able to provide approximately two-hour tours. Learn the ropes by participating in training with our seasoned guides. Is mobility an issue? No worries, we have golf carts and powered scooters available.

Help The Highground bloom: Ditch those winter blues. From about mid-April through the fall, help keep the flowers and new plantings nourished once or twice a week for about two hours a day. For ease, we have a golf cart set up with an attached water tank trailer. As a family or group activity, share the benefits of volunteering and watch as The Highground blooms.

Volunteer during our events: We are always in need of car parkers, traffic controllers and food servers as well as people to help with raffle ticket sales and set-up and break-down before and after events. Visit our Calendar of Events page to learn more about our upcoming events.

Other Volunteer Opportunities to Support our Mission!

Stuff Letters and Thank You’s! We always want to make sure that our thank you’s are personalized, in a world of “form emails” we want to always provide our contributors a bit more, one way that you can help is by helping us get these letters ready for mailing!

Nature Trail Support – Ok this might not be the most glamorous activity, but where else can you get a walk in nature and help your community! Take a stroll around our nature trails and provide some much-needed support by either picking up trash, trimming up some small overhanging shrubs, or letting us know where the trails may be needing some TLC! These trails are so important to our natural footprint, and the serenity of this volunteer experience is one that everyone can enjoy on their own time!

Museum Curation – Work hand in hand with our Museum Coordinator helping support the curation of our many exhibits! We are also updating our displays, adding new items, working on new projects, if you are a history buff with an eye for detail and great care, this is a great opportunity to get involved!

Something we didn’t think of? – The greatest thing about The Highground is the possibilities, and it has always been the volunteers of The Highground that have driven the next steps to our progression! If there is something that we may not have thought about that you think would benefit our mission, and would like to volunteer to support that effort, gives us a call and let’s talk!
