Female Veterans Retreat Ice Age Trail Hike 2023

The Highground is planning a Female Veterans Retreat Ice Age Trail Hike for June 22-25 2023. The retreat is open to any female Veteran of any age and service history.

This is The Highground’s first-ever hiking / camping retreat! Spending time in nature is one of the most effective and achievable ways to help heal and manage PTS and to reach goals of better mental health. Veterans will meet on the evening of Thursday, June 22 near the Ice Age Trail section in Taylor County, Wisconsin. Female veterans will enjoy learning outdoor skills and participate in meaningful PTSD / MST workshops along the way while hiking and camping on the Ice Age Trail Friday through Sunday morning. Goals of this retreat are to learn and become confident in hiking and camping skills in order to continue with these activities after the retreat and to make strides in healing and managing PTS / MST through group workshops led by Sarah Blum. The group will be hiking 5-8 miles daily on the rolling terrain of this stretch of the Ice Age Trail. Veterans will be supplied with the basic equipment necessary for this adventurous weekend!

Registration is required. To register and get a detailed itinerary for the retreat, Veterans are encouraged to contact Theresa as soon as they can by email to museum@thehighground.us or by calling 715-743-4224.

The Veterans Weekend Retreat is free for the Veterans thanks to these generous sponsors: Alliance Bank; Gauger Ventures LLC; Granite Gear; American Legion Post #354; The National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor and Maureen Hornung; Carol Shea; Marshfield Professional Police Association; American Legion Phaneuf–Vanasse #111; Citizens State Bank of Loyal; Milwaukee Brewers; Cathy Lawrence–Scentsy; Festival Foods; Wisconsin Timber Rattlers; Central WI Broadcasting; WWIS Radio; SCOPE Department of Corrections; Marshfield Acupuncture & Precision Armament LLC; Green Bay Packers; The Vet Center; The Heartbeat Center for Writing, Literacy and the Arts; Skip & Debbie Klabon; Bonnie Henchen; the Moraine Motel; The Ice Age Trail Alliance; Pete Kitzhaber; and the Birch Creek Town Hall in Holcombe.
