Female Veterans Retreat Ice Age Trail Hike 2024
The Highground is planning a Female Veterans Retreat Ice Age Trail Hike for May 30-June 2, 2024. The retreat is open to any female Veteran of any age and service history.
This is The Highground’s second hiking & camping retreat! Spending time in nature is one of the most effective and achievable ways to help heal and manage PTS and to reach goals of better mental health.
The Ice Age Trail Hike will include 5-8 miles of hiking on rolling/hilly terrain along the Ice Age Trail in the Holcombe, WI area. The group will return to overnight individual tent camping and workshops on outdoor skills and PTSD / MST management at a rural town hall property. The retreat will also include kayaking and canoeing.
The coordinating staff for this retreat, Pete Kitzhaber and members of the Ice Age Trail Alliance, are diligently working on preparations which include the detailed itinerary, an equipment list and physical conditioning advice.
A $30 registration fee is required which will be refunded to the Veterans when they arrive. Once Veterans are at the retreat, The Highground will take care of food, lodging, supplies, etc., including basic camping equipment for the Ice Age Trail Hike.
Early registration and a firm commitment is required. Please note: Transportation to and from the retreat weekend is the responsibility of the Veteran.
