The Highground Presents Women in the Military Exhibition

The Highground Museum presents the “Women in the Military” exhibition, on display through November 30, 2021. This relevant exhibit shows the evolution of women in the U.S. military to the present and how the courage of pioneering women demanded that the country change its cultural and societal norms.

The exhibit will feature the personal stories of several female military Veterans. These contributions offer a glimpse into a wide range of experiences, covering the achievements and positive gains from their service as well as the serious issues and challenges such as the military sexual trauma and Post Traumatic Stress that some women in the military faced.

The Highground will also be hosting the Wisconsin Veterans Museum’s new banner display “I Am Not Invisible” stories of women in the military as part of this exhibition.

The Highground thanks Carl Bogar and Historical Military Impressions (hmihistory.com) for an outstanding exhibit of female military uniforms of the 20th Century.

Sponsors of this special exhibit include: Keith Huennekens (in memory of Dolores Michalska–USAF); Eagle Tire Center; and Sandra Foley-Smith & Gary Smith.

The Highground is accepting “flower arrangement” sponsors, so a beautiful bouquet of flowers can be displayed at the Memorial Wall of the exhibit to honor the women in the U.S. military who died while serving. A sponsorship is $25 for each week and the name of the sponsor will be included with the arrangement. Sponsorships could also be listed as an “in memory of” name or kept anonymous.
