All Proceeds will support Veterans Retreat programs

The Highground’s 10th Annual “Winter Bowl” is moving to Eau Claire this year. For nine years, this well-attended event and the only fundraiser designated to support the nonprofit’s annual Veterans Retreats, was held in Marshfield.

For the past five years, The Highground has hosted several Veterans retreats for men and women. These retreats are designed to introduce Veterans to resources they can continue to use after the retreat. The hope is that these items will help them realize goals of peace, personal reflection and fulfillment that they may be lacking. The retreats are free to Veterans and the attendees take items related to the activities and workshops home with them. With the overwhelming interest shown in 2022, The Highground anticipates they will accommodate 10 Veterans at the winter retreat and 20 to 25 Veterans at each of the summer retreats.

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, The Highground staff and volunteers will welcome bowlers at Bowl Winkle’s Bowling Alley at 1616 N Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire. The fundraiser will include a large assortment of raffle baskets, rail prize drawings and random giveaways in a fun-filled, high-energy environment. The Winter Bowl has always been a strongly supported event with an attendance of 150 or more supporters bowling for The Highground.

The goal for the 2023 event is to raise $15,000 in order to offer the most supportive experience for each Veteran attendee.
