The Highground Receives 200 Beanie Babies for Military Care Packages

A BIG THANK YOU to generous supporter Pat Williams for donating 200 Beanie Babies for our current military package drive! These pristine Beanies are sure to put a smile on faces around the world!

The Highground is grateful for all the donations and the outpouring of support we’ve received which allows us to continue our Military Care Package program. These packages are a wonderful way to let the troops know they are in our hearts all year round and not just during the holidays.

The next boxes will be packaged on January 18th at The Highground Museum from 1pm – 4pm.
Requested items include:

  • Personal letters and cards not sealed (Valentines Day!)
  • Any non-chocolate candy
  • Ground Coffee–the fancier the better
  • Beef jerky sticks
  • Water flavoring powder
  • New good quality socks

Friendly reminder: We cannot accept/ship pork products

Green Bay Packer items are also a big hit! We are sending items to a lot of Wisconsin troops as well as to troops from all over the country.

WISH LIST ITEM: Cash donations to help cover shipping. Each box costs between $10 and $12.

Note: Boxes will be sent out again in March (for Spring and Easter);  May (in advance of Independence Day); July; September; November (for Thanksgiving and Christmas).

In addition to sending care packages to deployed troops, The Highground Museum will also be collecting letters, cards, and candy to bring to King Veterans Home & residents at the Tomah VA and Chippewa Veterans Home.

Our ongoing collection of items for homeless veterans has grown and has reached many. The amount of Winter clothing—including a large and completely full tote of new thermal socks!—has been a huge help to veterans in the local area and in the Twin Cities (via the Hands Foundation and their Every Third Saturday program). Thank you to everyone that supported this very important collection drive!
