The Highground’s Spring Vets & Guitars session will begin Thursday, March 19, at the Welcome Center. These 10-week courses are offered to military veterans and are free of charge thanks to our generous sponsors.

Music and art have been shown to provide essential, creative outlets for veterans to channel emotions and ease the burden of PTSD. The Vets & Guitars program harnesses the healing power of music, allowing veterans to build camaraderie and learn new skills in a supportive, therapeutic setting.
The Beginning Acoustic Guitar Class will be held from 4:30-5:30pm. The Continuing Acoustic Guitar Class, for veterans who have completed the introductory course, will be held from 6-7pm. Those who have prior experience but have not taken the beginning course can contact Theresa to see which course would suit them best.
All courses are led by musician and instructor Victoria Shoemaker. More information about Victoria and “Virginia Steel,” the band she performs with, is available at virginiasteelmusic.com
This program is made possible thanks to the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), Larry Kizewski and Charlotte Hense.
Veterans may email Theresa at museum@thehighground.org or call 715-743-4224 for full details and registration.
