In recognition of Veterans Day on November 11, 2025, The Highground will open its doors for an open house from 10am-4pm. Whether you served or simply wish to honor those who did, guests are invited to explore the Museum’s featured exhibit “WWII Bomb Crews and Atomic Veterans.” This powerful exhibit honors the courage and sacrifice of World War II aerial bomb crews and the often-overlooked atomic veterans—those who witnessed or participated in nuclear weapons testing.
Visitors can enjoy patriotic music from all eras, light refreshments, and meaningful conversations with fellow veterans in a spirit of camaraderie and remembrance.
Guests will also have the opportunity to learn more about The Highground’s Veteran Program offerings which include veterans’ retreats, Vets and Guitars & Ukuleles, reunions, special presentations, workshops and more. Staff and volunteers will be available throughout the day to answer questions and share information about upcoming events and support services.
“While there will be no formal ceremony this year, our doors will be open from 10am to 4pm to welcome veterans, families and community members to experience a space dedicated to honor, reflection and shared stories of service,” shares Executive Director Chris Pettis, USMC, Retired.
Please note: The Highground will not hold an ATV raffle this year.
